We Love our Girls! We allow them to truly free range, so they can come in and out of their barn onto pasture and wooded areas at their leisure. We strive to keep our chickens happy and let them enjoy their lives .We have 10 year old hens (Comet, our golden comet hen, has broken this old record at 11 years old this year!) still laying eggs for us every other day! There are many different breeds of chickens on our farm and we choose the best birds for hatching eggs. Many of our hens are broody over spring, summer, and fall months. We try to let them hatch and raise the chicks themselves, as we believe it makes a stronger bird. We do have special orders for certain breeds that may occasionally go into an incubator, but we will stick them under a broody hen if at all possible!  It is not uncommon for our chickens, turkeys, and ducks to hatch out each others offspring!
