Bourbon Red
The Bourbon Red is a rare heritage breed of domestic turkey. It is named for its red plumage and for where it originated, Bourbon County, Kentucky, where it was developed in the last years of the nineteenth century. It is on the rare breed list. Rare means: Fewer than 1,000 breeding birds in North America, with seven or fewer primary breeding flocks. These turkeys are very friendly, make great pets, and are great foragers.

Blue Slate
The Blue Slate Turkey is a critical heritage breed, recognized by the American Standard of Perfection since 1874. Believed to be derived from the Spanish Black Turkey in the USA, the Blue Slate Turkey is an excellent choice for foraging in backyards and farms. Blue Slates can be three colors: splash, self blue, and black.
Critical means: Fewer than 500 breeding birds in North America, with five or fewer primary breeding flocks.

Narragansett
The Narragansett turkey is a critical heritage breed cross between the eastern wild turkey and thought to be the Norfolk black turkey. The Narragansett turkey is a historic variety and is named for where it originated in Narragansett Bay. The Narragansett was one of America’s earliest domesticated turkey breeds dating back to the 1600’s and recognized by the American Standard of Perfection since 1874. Critical means: Fewer than 500 breeding birds in North America, with five or fewer primary breeding flocks. This breed is said to be our original Thanksgiving turkey! Narragansett’s are also excellent foragers.
